Goddes of rash actions and their consequences. Her mother was Eris and Zeus was her father. Ate was behind the argument between Agamemnon and Achilles. She was eventually expelled from heaven after tricking her father into taking a thoughtless oath. Ate was also connected with blindness (allegorical), crime and guilt.
